This Steinway console was built in Long Island, NY during wartime, though it appears no corners were cut in its manufacturing. In fact, the reinforced legs are far more durable than the spindly legs of its competitors. Occasionally these pianos were even parachuted into Allied camps to keep soldiers spirits high.
